Continuing with the Pokemon series special, we now have episodes 73 and 74. The first, as I said, focuses on Musashi and her Dokucale and the second is about Pikachu. Seeing as I’ve already blogged two episodes of the series and so this is technically not my first, I will only give a brief summary, some screenshots and my own thoughts. So let’s begin.

Episode 73
Summary -

Musashi decides to train a bit with her Dokucale for some up-coming contests, but all of a sudden Dokucale gets distracted and flies off. Musashi follows and finds that Dokucale’s encountered another Dokucale (a shiny one at that). The other Dokuecale’s trainer comes, and they see that their Dokucales seem to be in love. He tells her that the Dokucale gather here, at the lake, to find a mate and stuff. He calls his Dokucale and then the two of them leave – Musashi’s Dokucale looks a little upset – aww.

Musashi then recalls her past with a guy she liked when she was younger. She was training for an Idol debut and he to be a great Pokemon co-coordinator. She remembers how she chose to follow her idol dreams rather than go with him and how she failed miserably. She asks Dokucale if it really liked the other Dokucale, and it gets embarrassed and cute! At that point a bolt of lightning strikes the tree wear they were sitting near by and Dokucale pushes Musashi out of the way – go Dokucale!

We switch to the rest of the Pokemon gang, who’re sitting out the bad weather in a local Pokemon centre. The Nurse Joy there tells them about the Dokucale that gather there at the lake. Just then, the guy who met Musashi earlier runs in and says there’s trouble.

Meanwhile, Musashi wakes up to find her Roketto Dan buddies around her – she tells them that Dokucale saved her. Dokucale smiles happily. They then realise that the water running down the hill is from the lake and that if it continues, the lake will lose too much water for all the Dokucale to gather there. They decide to stop the water – wooo, go Roketto Dan!

The gang arrive at this point to find Roketto Dan moving rocks and boulders to stop the flow of water – Musashi commands that they help for the sake of the Dokucale. It’s one of those rare times where everyone works together, and it’s kinda nice to see. All the Pokemon help out as well – look at Pinpuku go! Satoshi and Hikari have Buoysel and Pochama use water attacks on the rocks and then Mimirol uses icebeam to freeze it all. The water’s now in the lake – yay!

Nurse Joy sees a problem though – she points at the snow and says that it’s not helping their cause. Hikari and Satoshi use Buoysel and Pochama again, and this time Hikozaru makes an appearance – together they melt the snow and the water sparkles prettily. Now it’s the turn of the two Dokucale. The shiny one uses its psychic abilities to raise the water up, while Musashi’s uses gust to help direct it to the lake. Their job done, the team stand back to admire their work.

It’s now time for the Dokucale to gather, and that means releasing the ones they have. Musashi’s Dokucale seems to want to stay with her – well they have been together for a while now – but Musashi remembers her missed oppurtunity with the boy from her past and smashes Dokucale’s pokeball while crying. Aww, I really felt it at this point *sniff.*

She sends Dokucale off with the shiny one and they all wish them well. Poor Musashi… It’s Arbok all over again…

Episode 74
Pikachu focused – woo!
Summary -

While eating, Pochama and Pikachu drop some food and it rolls off – the two run after the escaping food and then encounter a Pichu who eats it scowling at them. The Pichu calls for its trainer, Sho. Sho mistakenly thinks that Pikachu’s wild and sends out his Raichu, wanting to catch it and complete his set, despite Satoshi telling him that Pikachu belongs to him (they came looking for Pikachu and Pochama).

Satoshi and Sho decide to have a Pokemon battle to see who’s Pokemon is better. Although Pikachu puts up a great fight, ultimately its defeated by the Raichu and ends up severely hurt at the Pokemon centre – do you remember when Satoshi fought Machisu and his Raichu for the Thunderbadge? Yeah, it’s kinda like that. Actually you could argue that Pikachu seems to be more beaten up this time…

Once again Satoshi gives Pikachu the chance to evolve and leaves the Thunderstone on the table next to its bed. Pikachu sleeps but then turns its head to look at the stone during the night.

Later when Satoshi, Hikari, Takeshi and Pochama come to check on Pikachu they find its bed empty and the stone gone – they go looking for it. Satoshi feels upset that Pikachu left alone as they always do things together.

Satoshi finds Pikachu training and asks if its body is okay – Pikachu nods. Roketto Dan then appear and explain that they took the stone – looks like they believe in Pikachu ^^ that’s great. The next day Pikachu and Satoshi are training together working on Pikachu’s agility and speed etc – they see an electric attack in the distance and, assuming its Raichu and Sho, run off to challenge them.

Pikachu shows its stuff and this time wins – Pika-Pi-Pikachu! Roketto Dan was there too – in the bushes cheering for their yellow friend – ahhh sooo nostalgic!

Despite losing, Sho and Satoshi say farewell on a good note, eager for a rematch in the future ^^.

These were definitely pretty good episodes for me mainly due to the nostalgia that was brought about by them, especially episode 74. It was such an awesome feeling to remember the fight Pikachu and Raichu had when Satoshi tried for his thunderbadge and it really made me remember the good old days when I was young and Pokemon was popular. Now its more of a hidden thing – you can like Pokemon, as long as you only talk to other known hidden Pokemon fans, but there’s a whole lot of people who’ll give you odd looks if you say you like Pokemon. The best way to get around this is not to back down, but rather stick to it – “I like Pokemon, it was fun when I was little and it’s still pretty okay!” That usually shuts them up.
When Musashi released Dokucale, it just reminded me how much I love Roketto Dan. No matter what they do they’re just such awesome people – they really care for their Pokemon and do what needs to be done when they’re needed. They even release their Pokemon if they think that’s the right thing to do (Arbok and Matadogas), and leave them behind if it’s not safe for the Pokemon to continue with them (Chirean) and we always see how much it hurts them. Ahhh they rock, seriously! They even cheered for Pikachu in episode 74! Did you see those little flags? I think I’m turning into a total fangirl again – let’s go back to my final word.
It was great to see some Pikachu vs. Raichu action – I do find it questionable that Pikachu won however – yeah, sure, it’s a great Pokemon, but physically etc, Raichu is the stronger Pokemon – you only have to play a Pokemon game to know that. On the other hand, I guess this Pikachu has always been special, and seeing as it’s one of my fave pokemon, I won’t go on about that anymore ^^.
What’s going to happen next time? Well it’s focused more on Hikari – Mikuri makes an appearance – yay – isn’t he just too cool? Seeing as he’s a champion coordinator, Hikari gets all excited – this one looks like it’ll be a great one to watch – look forward to it!
So what do I give episodes 73 and 74? A 9.5/10! Why? Mainly due to nostalgia and emotional levels really – they were sweet episodes to watch, though you may disagree.
Anyways, make sure to join me again!
