Vampire Knight – Chapter 37

I finally managed to catch up with the Vampire Knight manga – I’ve reached 37, yay! Even though chapter 38’s already out, I still think that’s a great success. Anyways, briefly here are my thoughts in an interview format – let’s bring in a guest to perform it – how about a mascot? Seeing as Vampire Knight doesn’t really have one, let’s call in that lovable hamster from Hamutaro, Hamutaro! (To be honest I just wanted to have a picture of him on my blog more than anything else – next time I’ll probably use Kon).

Hiya! I’m Hamutaro! So Viz-chan- what do you think of the recent developments in the manga?

Well I’ve got to admit it definitely made me blink and go back to make sure I was following and not imagining things – ah before I go on, there may be a few spoilers, so it’d be best to stop following now if you haven’t got this far. Anyway I really couldn’t believe that there was gonna be some incest going on – a vampire, yeah, sure I’m sure most of us guessed that a while ago – even the fact that she (Yuki) is Kaname’s sister wasn’t much of a suprise, I mean they do look alike. But for them to do anything with that knowledge – for me that was a bit…

Incest? Ahaha, as a hamster from a series aimed at children, I’m thinking I shouldn’t know what that is… Um, so that happened before chapter 37, right? What happened in this chapter, exactly?

Well, this chapter focused a bit on relationships more than anything else – we got to see Ruka’s feelings for Kaname a bit more – if they weren’t clear before, they certainly are now. Kaname lessens the pain and humiliation for her by saying that he trusts her, which at first glance doesn’t seem like a big deal, but when you consider Kaname’s character and just who he is, you get the feeling that really means a lot.

We then see Yuki trying to talk to Zero – this one was a bit painful – you can see that they’re relationships really stretched thin and that the chances of it ever recovering are slim to none. Zero seems to be treating Yuki a little bit harshly though – he almost seems to believe she was leading him on or something, but then, she like totally wasn’t aware that she was a vampire, so that’s a little unfair. Yuki takes this quite badly and then leaves…

Ah, that sounds kinda sad… How about the other vampires? How’re they adjusting to Yuki san being a vampire?

Haha, now that’s where we get a little bit of humour. A while back, Kaname sent his most trusted Night Class buddies out to keep an eye on Yuki – this was before she’d awoken as a vampire, by the way – it was so brilliant to see how annoyed they were and the way Aido says “Shut up, Cross Yuki,” and then we have Rima adding “Sama” while pulling a face – it was brill! Then they all trek after her – ah, good times. Now they’re having a harder time adjusting to the fact that Yuki’s a pure blood vampire – especially Aido – I spent a lot of time laughing as he struggled to keep calling her sama and stuff – repeating most things just to get it right. *hugs Aido* Isn’t he just too cute?

*laughs* To me he looks a bit scary – all those vampires do – but I am a hamster after all. What should I ask next? Ah, how about that business with Rido and Shiki san? What do you think of that?

Well I’m kinda annoyed that he took over Shiki’s body, simply because Shiki’s such a cool, laid-back guy that doesn’t really deserve to be controlled – that and Rima got hurt because of him and she’s one of my fave characters too. I hope things turn out okay for them – their relationship is just so interesting to follow, so it’d be a shame if it was damaged.

More importantly – how about the climax of the chapter? I thought it was a good point to stop and I really can’t wait to read the next chapter – how about you?

Totally – I honestly thought Kaname was going to kill that body, but he didn’t – instead he gave him his blood. I was like “oooo!” Then again I have some theories as to why he may have done that…

Ooo tell me! Tell me!

I’ll only say one, and that’s probably the most obvious one – perhaps he thinks that by doing so Rido will leave Yuki alone. it seems feasible that he’s protecting her in someway at any rate – he does that a lot. You’ll have to make your own assumptions XD.

Makes sense to me. So final few questions now – you ready?

Bring ‘em on! – I have revision I should be doing.

Okay – so are you enjoying the manga so far?

Yup, totally – it’s full of unexpected suprises. Like, even though you think you know what’s going to happen next, you’ll only be partially right and you’ll find something more thrown in for good measure.

Are you looking forwards to the next chapter?

Hell yeah! I can’t wait to read it!

Finally, are you hungry?

Hmmm… actually yeah, I am – let’s wrap this up and go raid the cupboard downstairs for some food!

Pizza! Pizza!

Eh? But I don’t think we have any…

Awww…

Anyways, that’s all for this manga chapter review – join us again next time!

This is Hamutaro saying mata ne!

And this is Viz signing out!

Bye-bee!
